Joel Cabrera is a certified Manual Therapist with 15 years of experience as a licensed physical therapist. Joel’s passion is one-on-one patient care while treating orthopedic conditions from acute injury to return to sport activities.


Joel received an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Health Science and a Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of Florida. He received his Manual Therapy Certification from the University of Saint Augustine. Joel practices multiple treatment approaches including Maitland, Mckenzie, and Paris techniques for spinal and joint rehabilitation. Joel has spent over 12 years treating chronic and acute spinal conditions, patients with TMJ disorders, chronic headaches, and connective tissue disorders.  He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA and has worked with the Carolina Ballet treating professional and aspiring dancers. 


Joel provides treatment through hands-on therapy, Dry Needling, Graston/IASTM techniques for soft tissue mobilization, taping, biomechanical analysis, strength training, custom shoe posting, and orthotics. Ryan Upper is a graduate of the University of Redlands in California and is a veteran of the US Navy and the US Army. Ryan swam and played water polo through college and is a current member of the Triangle Water Polo Club and US Masters Swimming. After graduating college, Ryan coached collegiate water polo and swimming at Riverside City College, the University of Arizona, San Diego State University, UNC-Chapel Hill, and Duke University. He has coached NCAA and National-level water polo athletes. Ryan is certified as a Bronze-Level USRPT Swim Coach, a USA Water Polo Pace Coach, and a P-BIT Master Instructor.


Ryan is a published author and has produced multiple case studies on high-performance training. After a 2-year period writing performance articles for Water Polo Planet, Ryan began researching innovative Ultra-Short Race-Pace Training (USRPT) concepts for swimming and water polo as well as Performance-Based Interval Training (P-BIT) concepts for weight lifting, running, and cycling.

Major Upper (then Petty Officer Second Class) enlisted in the US Navy, served tours in Japan and Hawaii with the Naval Security Group, and has spent eight months at sea on combat ships. Major Upper commissioned in the US Army Reserves and is currently a reserve simulations officer with the Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, NC.
